The only requirement given to the original 15 designing architects was that each cottage must relate to something in Connecticut. Thus, the Helicopter Cottage actually houses a 1947 Coast Guard HH37 Sea King

Pelican helicopter built at nearby

Sikorsky Helicopters, one of the state’s largest employers.

Probably one of the world’s most luxurious helicopter hangers, a gas fireplace, king bed, whirlpool tub and double glass shower add to the entertainment center and wet bar found inside the helicopter. The Helicopter Cottage offers the ideal “mancation” with the chance to sit in the pilot seat for guys who fear B&Bs and for women looking for pampered indulgence.

The centerpiece of the spacious Charter Oak Cottage is a large floor-to-ceiling tree reminiscent of the tree that hid Connecticut’s charter during the revolutionary war. This cottage also houses a blue tile shower and whirlpool room big enough to host a small cocktail party. Yet the Charter Oak Cottage’s living room with its large bar is probably a more appropriate setting for that. Maybe the most dramatic of cottages is the treehouse, true to name, built into the crook of a

massive tree on the property.
