If you believe in eating breakfast like a king or queen, then at the Inn at Woodhaven, in Louisville, KY, you are sure to feel like royalty. Innkeeper/Owner Marsha Burton elevates the most important meal of the day to a whole other level. Her bountiful home cooked breakfasts like Bourbon French Toast, Egg Sandwich with Bacon Jam, Hot Brown Sandwich, and freshly baked biscuits and bread are some of the scrumptious creations you will find on the ever-changing menu. It is classic Southern cuisine with an avant-garde flair.

Marsha, who prepares all of the dishes herself, proudly uses local ingredients for authentic taste, and incorporates her adventurous style with the customary “unbridled spirit” of the Bluegrass State. She blends traditional family recipes passed down for decades, with modern twists, and is constantly asked to share her recipes. She personalizes dishes to individual preferences, and accommodates special dietary needs with her heart healthy menu.

Her renowned two-course breakfasts feature organic fruits, cage free eggs and fresh breads. Marsha offers up a variety of menu options and adds three specials daily. Breakfast is served in the dining room or delivered to your room. As the only cook on the premises, how does she do it? “I pretty much work every day of the year,” she says.

She clearly loves what she does. Marsha bought the landmark inn in the 1990s, and has painstakingly preserved the grandeur of the property over the last 22 years. Comprised of three buildings: an 1853 Gothic Revival Mansion, Carriage House and Octagon Rose Cottage, this premier inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is an impressive example of the era’s stunning architectural style.

The cozy ambiance throughout the common areas in the main house, patios, porches and balconies of each building, will beckon you. The dining room is furnished with separate tables, white tablecloths and napkins, and fine china. Fresh flowers, candlelight and soft music enhance your dining experience.

Located on the east end of Louisville, close to shopping, museums and attractions like the Kentucky Derby and the legendary Bourbon Trail, make the Inn at Woodhaven your starting point in this world-class city.

A word of caution, Marsha is known for her mouth-watering desserts too, so you may have to leave your diet at home.
