We agree with you, this

extra cold winter is

getting a bit tiresome. A getaway is a great idea and staying at a B&B is a terrific choice. Innkeepers are incredibly knowledgeable of all there is to do in the area – because let's face it, they live in that area! Normally you’d have to stay in an expensive hotel to get the kind of recommendations and concierge service that are offered at most bed & breakfast inns. Innkeepers are working hard to provide more than just a place to sleep, they want to make your getaway as experiential as possible. Take a look at their websites to see area activities and look at the packages that they offer.Since we don’t know what your interests are it’s hard to point you in any one direction, however, inns offer everything from courses and classes themselves (cooking to photography, beer brewing to yoga, and so on). They can also point you in the right direction to the best local business offering activities and events such as plays and concerts. No matter what your interests are, innkeepers can help you with the best deals and the best times to partake. If you don’t see the information on their website, send them an email or call them for suggestions.

I’ve never seen this

information anywhere so i’ m wondering do B&Bs have bars? If I’m traveling on a romantic weekend and we want to have a drink is there somewhere at the inn that we can get one? Or, what about if I’m traveling on business and want to order a night cap, can I do this? Jerry, Santa Rosa, CA USA

Cheers Jerry! There is

no one answer to your Question. In general, small properties do not have bars. Laws about serving alcohol vary by state and in Canada it is rarely done except at larger inns that have restaurants as part of the property. In the US, you will find a variety; inns that include alcohol in their romance packages, inns that have wine & cheese socials in the afternoon, and others that put out evening cordials. Many however, do not serve any alcohol at all but would be happy to lend you a cork screw if you needed one.
