questions from Innkeepers and travelers.

I’m pregnant with my first child and due next month. I thought a mini getaway before I have to go back to work would be nice for our new family. I’ve been doing some research on the Internet and a B&B seems like it would offer us a nice experience. The rooms and grounds look like wonderful places to explore and relax. The breakfasts look scrumptious and like a real treat. My question is can we bring an infant? She will be about 3 months when we go. - Mary Ann. Omaha, NE

Congratulations Mary Ann! A B&B would be all of the things you describe - and more - for an unforgettable experience. Inns do vary, however, on the appropriateness to bring young children. Some inns are not appropriate for children of any age and these will be wonderful to look for when you and your husband get some alone time for a getaway in the future. Until then, you’ll need to check with the innkeeper once you find a B&B that you like. Some inns can accommodate infants, but not young children because of furnishings, antiques, pets, or safety concerns. Some might even have cribs or have space in your room for your own portable one. Since your getaway will be in the summer, now is the best time to start your research and make your reservation. Bed & breakfasts book up quickly, so once you find the right one we suggest you reserve it right away. Then you’ll have something special to look forward to. Enjoy your getaway - and your new daughter.
