Inns Magazine Issue 1 Vol. 18 Spring Romance 2014 - Page 12

ianluca Guzzon came from Italy to Canada in 2007 to look a buying at bed and breakfast. Believe it or not he only had eyes for Auberge La Chatelaine. He loved it because it was reminiscent of an old Victorian villa plus it had a view second to none as it overlooks the St. Lawrence. That alone sold him and as they say the rest was history. He moved to a new country, bought a business and become an Aubergist
(French for Innkeeper).

Fast-forward to 2014 and Gianluca has restored the floors to the natural wood, changed the colors of the rooms, which are much warmer and romantic.

The property lends itself to being a romantic getaway as the large villa-style house is surrounded by gardens and the atmosphere is warm and cozy. Guests love to sit outside to drink wine. The rooms are ‘old style’ which is a wonderful accent to the original architecture. In cooler weather guests can gather around either of the two wood fireplaces on the main floor in the living room - a perfect place to read a book, or in the breakfast area to greet the day.

For those in love and who want to adventure Auberge La Chatelaine offers many packages whether it’s whale watching, attending a performance at the famous Domaine Forget or cruising up the breathtaking fjords. It’s all on the website and easy to order

The ‘Cibo’ (food in Italian) is buffet style and offers ‘a dish’ of the day, sweet and savory, with a table full of wonderful food including authentic Italian dishes, all made by either Gianluca or his mother when she visits from Italy!

The B&B is located in Pointe au Pic and is one of the most visited areas of Quebec because of the amazing panoramic views. Remember a picture is worth a thousand words… it is, especially with someone you love!
