About Formation Zone is Plymouth University ’ s award winning incubation space . There is an incubator on the Plymouth Campus and one at each of the three Innovation Centres in Cornwall .

On campus the incubator is positioned in the prestigious Marine Building where it is well placed to support our key target sectors of creative industries , hi-tech , marine , environmental , advanced engineering , health and wellbeing .
We can accommodate 33 pre-start and early stage businesses with an additional grow-on office that can accommodate 3 people and allow for businesses to grow and prepare for the next stage .
We are open to anyone who can demonstrate innovation , high standards and potential for growth . You don ’ t have to be a Plymouth University student or graduate to apply . Formation Zone provides a vibrant and supportive environment and is perfect for those with a business idea they ’ d like to start and develop .
Working alongside like-minded people increases motivation and being part of the network of Formation Zone businesses may lead to supply chain and collaboration opportunities .

Formation Zone ’ s Connect network offers all our clients and alumni opportunities for peer support and collaboration ; this includes informal evenings off campus with the aim of bringing like-minds together over a drink in a creative space .
Since 2007 Formation Zone has supported over 180 businesses to develop and grow . Starting in a dedicated business incubator like Formation Zone increases the chance of start-up success , 80 % of businesses started with Formation Zone continue to thrive .
Formation Zone is the only independently accredited business incubator in Plymouth . In 2013 we were awarded the UKBI Achievement in Business Incubation , acknowledging our best practice in business start-up support . In 2015 Formation Zone was awarded NEF Investor in Innovations status and accredited with the NEF Award in Innovation and Knowledge Exchange . The Manager of Formation Zone is a NEF Certified Innovation Practitioner .

Facilities & Services Formation Zone offers a workstation in an open plan office space ; this dedicated workspace makes businesses more productive and helps to separate work and home life . All workstations includes a desk , chair , pedestal storage , IP phone , broadband network and wireless , shared printer / copier / fax / scanner .
Tenants can use Formation Zone as their postal address giving increased presence and profile for the business .
Experienced professional staff The dedicated and experienced Formation Zone team are based in the office to ensure that tenants get the support and assistance required .
Business Support As part of the ongoing support package tenants have a monthly opportunity to meet with a business advisor and work based coach . There is also the opportunity to meet with a Patent Attorney to discuss any Intellectual Property issues .
Access to meeting room facilities Cutting edge meeting rooms providing the opportunity for businesses to meet potential clients , network with existing tenants and connect within a vibrant and collaborative business community .
Managed facilities Access 7 days a week from 07.30-22.00 , postal services , managed IPtelephony and Wi-Fi in a safe secure environment
