MADEXXX You Are What You Eat If you want to look your best, add these to your diet… Blueberries, blackberries — really potent in anti- oxidants. Vitamin C — helps with the collagen production. Green leaf and vegetables — major source of iron and calcium for any diet. Green tea — hydrates the skin, if you do matcha another good option. Catechins — are natural anti- oxidants. They work internally so the benefits will be seen on the outside. Turmeric — powerful anti-inflamma- tory effects and is a very strong antioxidant. Aloe Vera — reduces inflammation throughout the body, proving to be revitalizing. Be Careful: Put The Lemons Down People tend to use lemon on their face as an alternative option to cure acne scars/dark spots. The problem with using lemon and lime on the face in the Summer is that it causes something called phytophotodermatitis and it causes hyperpigmentation. This happens because the lemon, the lime and the reaction to the sun causes permanent burns, resulting in hyperpigmenta- tion. Hair Removal When it comes to hair removal, people often choose to thread, wax and/or shave. The problem with shaving is that it causes ingrown hairs. Waxing and threading can create ingrown hairs as well because you’re pulling the hair out of the fol- licle and when the hair tries to grow back, it grows back under the skin. It causes hyperpigmentation and the area around the skin looks dark. One of the things to consider as you’re coming toward the Summer would be laser hair removal. Laser hair removal provides two benefits: it removes the hair from the follicles so over time, the hair will grow back slower and finer and over time you will not have growth. Also, if you use the right kind of laser, it will also treat the dark areas as well. The skin starts to look more even. made-magazine.com | 10
