spent months waiting for the bank to push through a
loan for a commercial property he was interested in.
Putting up with the “buttocks of bureaucracy,” as he put
it, relying on people who were wasting his time. After a
three month process, he was denied the loan because
the space he was trying to buy was deemed worthless.
Rather than be disheartened, throw in the towel and
keep renting, Control set out to find a different way.
He found a property in Tacoma, Washington, one
that offered owner financing, where the owner acts
as the bank. Control made the deal and set up shop.
Managing to cut out banks and record labels, both of
his businesses were going full speed ahead.
Taking full control, making the band his full time job,
encompassing his music and merch, William has been
able to create an abundance of new items for his online
store and change the way his music is released. In the
age where a new album pops up on your online feed
and after only an hour is no longer breaking news,
Control decided to change the game, to constantly
release music. Breaking his upcoming album into four
parts, releasing each with a single, music video, and
lyric videos to keep William Control at the top of his
game. He is always releasing content and giving the
fans his art to digest over time, versus once or twice a
year in one fell swoop. The first segment of his album is
due out in July.
But that’s not all. This one man enterprise has also
published a series of novellas. “The Revelator,” which
is a three part series (with the third book coming out
this summer), has taken off. Control began writing the
series years ago and self-publishing, retaining all the
rights to the material. With a devoted and strong fan
base, his material was well received and after a series
of meetings, he had a movie script in front of him
written by Jacob Johnston, formerly of Marvel. This
was another idea and concept of Control’s work, a
dream that was coming alive. It was a series he always
pictured being a feature film that is now in production
and underway. The film is undergoing casting, the
location set, and the pairing with Dark City Media
Group complete. Control will be doing the music for
the film and working side by side with the director.
Currently, they are looking to begin shooting this fall.
Besides making movies, music, and merch he’s also
traveling the world and playing his music. Control is
headed out soon on a short acoustic tour in England
this month, then back for a full length tour overseas in
September, and taking the states by storm in October
and November. You’ll never see Control sitting still,
letting other companies or industries run his show,
he is living proof that with the right drive, motivation,
and follow through, you can do it yourself. You can
be an artist and not have to take side jobs to be able
to live your passion, you can have it all. Control is an
electrifying image of complete independence.
