Words: Chad Allen Photography: Sean Hartgrove Red Rocks Amphitheater, renowned as having some the best natural acoustics found anywhere in the world, draws in some of the biggest acts ever to bless a stage, and leaving them in awe. The 10,000 seat venue sits amidst a stunning geological rock formation right in the heart of Morrison, Colorado. During the winter, it remains dormant, playing as an exquisite natural backdrop to people looking for a great place to hike, or just taking it all in. But In the summer months, it opens its doors to music events ranging from rock to rap, and even dance music. With this, Red Rocks has become a home for a widespread of musical festivals, one of which is the epic three night event known as Global Dance Festival. If you live nearby, you might feel the occasional house rumble from a deep bass line, you may see a steady stream of laser light shows, moving in sync with the drums, peeking its head over the hill. Depending on where you live, you might be able to hear an MC summoning the sold-out venue to make some noise, followed by a rumbling cheer from of an enthusiastic audience. All of this is just another walk in the park for the attending. Every year, this sold out event takes Colorado EDM to new heights and they set off Red Rocks like no other show can. Hosted by the Triad Dragons, one of the largest dance music collectives ever to bless the Mile High, this event has created wave after wave, earning a spot amongst the U.S. as one of the most recognized dance music festivals. On Friday, July 17th, the festivities began. Cars filled with partygoers make their way up the hill. Dressed in all levels of colorful and expressive attire, they hike slowly into the venue. As they made their way in, you could hear the bass from the hearty sound system, plugging away, only adding to their aggressive excitement.
