Achziger Design is the juxtaposition of the passion for traditional techniques by hand , and the modern method of state-of-the-art printing technology of its namesake and Denver based sole owner , Matt Achziger . At 26 , he has developed his company not only through creativity , raw talent , drive , and pure motivation , but also through the expression of his art and his designs .
Matt is primarily self-taught , studying he maintains , “ thousands of tutorials .” When one would catch his eye , he explains , “ it would show me a technique on how to apply an effect on a photograph . I would put my style and spin on it which would become my own .” In Matt ’ s senior year of high school , he was
hired on as the main graphic design artist at Broadway Wellness in Colorado now known as LivWell , the second biggest marijuana conglomerate in the United States . This gave him the hands on training designing ads for publications like the Denver Westword ads which he proclaims , “ I had my art published back then even though it was advertising , and it drove my artistic and designing abilities to the very edge .”
The intricate method that results in Matt ’ s beautiful compositions is a multi-step process that begins with a photograph . When faced with dozens of photographs and asked how to choose one over the other , Matt theorized , “ I believe I base it on the raw emotion , or what is captivating about the image to me .” He isolates the subject in the photograph and starts adding his signature ingenious techniques . “ I have always drifted towards spray paint , artistic strokes and splatters , and finish with that traditional look layering over the photos ,” Matt says . Running the canvas through his Epson printer is something that Matt is highly skilled at manipulating . He knows how far he can push it , and he pushes it to its limit . Through this extensive trial and error experimentation , Matt found his highly distinctive style .
His designs can have a surreal quality , an innovative approach to the medium . He produces images with an expressive use of
