His story is nothing short of heroic. His presence is commanding, yet inexplicably
charming. And he is responsible for some of your greatest rock concert
memories. He is known as the Thor of concert production, and rightfully so. What
a name to live up to. In Norse mythology, Thor is the hammer-wielding deity of
thunder, strength, and protection of mankind. Kenny Leath upholds this title with
honor and grace.
The Vans Warped Tour main stage manager often finds himself face-to-face with
various elements of weather, not just thunder. The festival is known to carry on,
rain or shine. He even recalls a time in Calgary where he resembled a storm
chaser, rescuing tents from a small but harrowing tornado. His shirtless, tattoo
covered body is the epitome of strength. And as far as protection of mankind
goes, he is highly regarded as the protector and overseer of all that goes on
behind the scenes.
However, life wasn’t always godlike for Mr. Leath. The former star of Warped
Roadies has experienced his fair share of grueling obstacles. It was a series
of unfortunate events that has led him down the path he now calls his greatest
blessing.
It started in prison, where he met a man that would change his life forever. “I took
the time while I was locked up to get clean and sober,” he says. When Leath was
released, his friend introduced him to his brother who was one of Warped Tour’s
main stage managers. The rest is history, and history he continues to make.
Warped Tour isn’t his only gig, which keeps him ridiculously busy in it of itself.
When he’s not making sure all is going well at Warped, Leath is in beast mode
on tour with Avenged Sevenfold, Slayer, Beyoncé, and other music heavyweights.
