Singapore, and many more. They also have no shortage of sponsors, many of
which are recognized names in the EDM scene, such as Datsik, Downlink,
DJ Fury, MC Armanni Reign, and LNY TNZ, to name just a few, followed by
backing rec ognized promotions across the nation, including Beta Nightclub’s
Gravity Friday located in Denver, Colorado.
We had a chance to catch up with them. Here is what they had to say.
InkSpired Magazine: How did you get the name, Damascus?
Damascus Apparel was inaugurated as a service based business
in 2009, but over time developed into something with much more
substance. Damascus Syria, is the longest continually occupied city
on Earth. At one point, it was a mega trading hub. It’s a powerful
name with a strong background. Damascus Apparel is forming into
a hub or connecting piece for many likeminded creators around the
world. Online and in person. This is why we infuse the message,
“We are all connected.” throughout our ecosystem.
InkSpired Magazine: Who is a part of your clothing line?
What are each of your roles?
There are many creators connected to, contributing, and
supporting the brand, but heading our creative and product
development in San Diego is Josh and I. We both take on a
range of responsibilities, but I am committed to branding,
web, social, photo, marketing, and product campaign
development, while Josh focuses on product materials
and sourcing, production logistics, fulfillment, PR,
partnerships and new accounts.
InkSpired Magazine: Where are you from? What
made you start doing clothing?
Josh and I were both born and have grown here in
San Diego. This is why you’ll see that city so pronounced throughout our creative. We love San
Diego. In 2008, neither of us had experience in
clothing or fashion at all, but knew we wanted
to have a positive and influential voice to the
masses. Although it seemed impossible to
make a difference at the time, we felt that
clothing carries a constant, incredibly
vocal message...and so we spearheaded
streetwear.
InkSpired Magazine: Where do you
find your artistic inspiration?
Generally answering, it takes a
combination of things to have a
healthy relationship with our muse,
being open to everything and
staying curious makes it easy to
produce content. We wouldn’t
function well without our nonstop music. It’s also wonderful
being able to work with other
creators and build off of
each other.
