CPS ARTS EDUCATION PLAN PROGRESS 69 GOAL 5 — DATA-DRIVEN DECISIONS Build a sustainable system infrastructure to track, analyze, and disseminate standardized data on arts instruction and programming. A new version of Ingenuity’s artlook ® Map continues to collect and disseminate data on the arts in schools, as well as community arts offerings. artlook ® will integrate the Arts Partner Standards of Practice as a resource for continuous improvement in “quality” partnerships. Currently, the arts are included on the School Report Card through the Creative Schools Certification, and efforts to include other arts indicators in the Every Student Succeeds Act and the School Quality Rating score are in progress. A B Create a system to track elementary- school-level arts data. Include the arts on Measure reach, measures of school implementation, and success (e.g. principal effectiveness outcomes evaluations) and in of arts partnerships, so internal tracking schools can determine mechanisms (e.g. “quality” partnerships. staffing, courses, and additional benchmarks). C D Integrate the arts into the school scorecard with multiple indicators, FAQs, an information portal, and a summary of data. GOAL 6 — ACROSS ALL PRIORITIES Ensure adequate and sustainable arts education funding is equitably distributed across the district and additional funds are available to support arts innovation and school action plans. Funding from the Creative Schools Fund and the district has become an important part of how schools plan and budget for arts education alongside their other priorities each year. CPS has made the commitment to take ownership of the Arts Essentials grant fund established and previously run through Ingenuity’s Creative Schools Fund, which fulfills recommendation B. A B C D Require each school to maintain a budget for the arts set at a minimum percent of each school’s overall budget or a per-pupil or per-art formula. Establish a district fund to provide all schools with adequate material and resources. Create an external Arts Expansion and Alignment Fund to support schools directly for external partnerships that are in addition to certified arts staff. Develop and maintain external funding streams via previously untapped sources such as corporate and public donation. PROGRESS REPORT | 2016–17
