COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS
Types by Network
53
The geographic distribution of community partnerships, illustrated in
the rows on the heat map, highlights both achievements and important
opportunities for improvement. Network 5 (East and West Garfield Park,
Humboldt Park, Logan Square, North Lawndale, and West Town) schools
reported more access to partnership opportunities for their students than
any other network. In fact, the shading on the map shows that there were
more residency programs reported available to the students in Network 5
than there were field trip programs reported available to students in several
other networks. This speaks well of the efforts by principals and arts liaisons
in Network 5 and the community partners that work with them to bring rich
arts opportunities to students in these city schools.
The heat map also highlights the opportunity for community arts
partners to increase their reach in non-geographic CPS Networks,
including Options, charter, and contract schools. For example, students
in the Options Network were only 25 percent as likely to be impacted
by a community arts partner program versus students in Network 5;
students in the Charter and Contract Networks were 38 percent as likely
to be touched by a program type versus their Network 5 counterparts.
