1. Lighting and Asset Management Monitor and take control of lighting across multiple floors, buildings, or sites from anywhere, allowing system managers to reduce operational costs. Real-time performance data provides immediate notification of faults and outages, allowing for immediate response. 3. Scene Management System managers can also utilise Interact Office or Interact Pro lighting management systems beyond energy optimisation by setting lighting scenes for meetings and brainstorming. This creates a more conducive and better office environment for employees. 2. Energy Optimisation Data collected through the connected lighting system allows system managers to switch off lighting in areas or floors when not in use, thus reducing CO 2 emissions and improving energy cost savings. Daylight harvesting and occupancy detection also enable offices to reduce or dim lighting. 4. Indoor Navigation For larger offices, smart indoor lighting infrastructure can even be used to guide new employees, guests, and clients to rooms and areas they need to go, saving time and improving their experience. Case Study The Edge Office Building Amsterdam, The Netherlands Just like its namesake, the 40,000m 2 , multi- tenanted The Edge office building in Amsterdam truly represents cutting-edge IoT technologies. OVG and Deloitte worked with Signify to enhance the flexibility of this open-plan office to create the smartest office building in the world, as well as the greenest according to British rating agency BREEAM, which gave it 98.4% for sustainability. Powered by Interact Office software, The Edge uses nearly 6,500 connected LED luminaires to create a ‘digital ceiling’ in the building’s 15 stories. At least 3,000 of these luminaires come integrated with IoT sensors, allowing facility managers to store, capture, and analyse this data to better track energy consumption and streamline maintenance operations. These energy efficient LED panels are also powered by the same data cables. The real-time data collected from the IoT sensors is also used by facility managers to maximise operational efficiency and reduce the building’s CO 2 footprint. The Edge office employees also have access to the smart connected lighting features; workspace lighting and temperature can be personalised by employees through the Interact Office smartphone app, no matter where they are. Sensor-equipped LED lights in the parking garage brighten and dim as employees come and go in cars or on bicycles, while sensors in the LED light panels provide detailed temperature and humidity readings, allowing employees to accurately control temperatures. Moving to Interact Office has had substantial benefits for the Edge: an annual reduction of €100,000 in energy costs and an impressive €3.5 million savings in space utilisation. Deloitte’s employees are happier too, with the firm receiving four times more applicants than average. The Edge is a more comfortable, productive, and sustainable working environment – all thanks to Interact Office. 19
