Emerging Lighting Technologies By SIGNIFY (formerly known as Philips Lighting) Spotlight on the Future of Light LED lighting solutions aren’t new in the industry. In fact, they have been around for decades. Due to the multiple benefits of LED lighting such as lower energy consumption, design flexibility, virtually zero UV emissions and more, incandescent light bulbs are quickly becoming a thing of the past. Over the last 10 years, LED lighting has evolved rapidly and is now part of the larger and more connected ecosystem including the Internet of Things (IoT). The next phase of this evolution is Light as a Language, where LEDs and the light it emits can be used to convey information. Some examples of this include sensors that collect data or even transmit broadband internet connectivity through light waves. Lighting can make a world of difference in the modern workspace. The right lighting system can help companies reduce operational costs and its carbon footprint. This is one of the reasons why LED lighting solutions are now the go-to choice for most companies, developers and business owners. With a connected lighting and management system installed, business owners are able to use the information collected to gain better insights into building usage and have greater control over the distribution and consumption of its resources. Through the data collected, companies will be able to further optimise space usage and minimise costs such as cleaning and climate control.
