A
ccording to the United Nations Energy
Programme, the energy in buildings
contributes about 40% of total global
energy. In any individual office building, air-
conditioning contributes about 60% of the total
electricity consumption.
With regards to an existing building, especially
ones designed and constructed in the absence
of energy efficiency considerations, there is an
opportunity to retrofit the mechanical systems.
This is especially so for Government buildings with
a limited budget in creating new building stocks
and upgrading.
