The establishment of the National Asset and
FM Conference also signifies the Government’s
intent regarding the establishment of systematic
management processes. The intention to improve
public delivery systems, turning them into well-
functioning national assets and facilities, will
contribute to a more efficient and effective public
service. Greater complexity of today’s building
facilities also requires a more professional
approach to managing and maintaining these
physical assets. Asset Management and Facilities
Management professionals have a great
opportunity to implement strategic techniques
and practices to improve quality standards. This
will subsequently lead to a growing awareness of
the social perceptions of customers’ and users’
needs for well-maintained buildings and a secure
environment. With the rapid changes in mySPATA,
1GFMAS and the application of Computerised
Maintenance Management System (CMMS),
clients will now have access to a computerised
system for the implementation of asset and
facilities management.
Continuous improvement is needed to
build up efficiency in performing data analysis
activities in a structured and systematic way.
In the future, mySPATA Phase 2 will allow
executing, processing, monitoring and analysing
of data based on the life cycle of the asset. In
order to adopt an integrated system, funding
support is required. Also, the accrual accounting
system (1GFMAS) will impose effective and
efficient allocation of expenses in maintaining
Government non-movable assets.
In the context of improving the monitoring of
FMM contracts, changes in services offered have
been integrated in computerised systems such
as mySPATA. Proposals for future integration
applications that can monitor CMMS for all FMM
contracts awarded by the Government, will create
opportunities for the rapid development of the FM
sector.
Thus, continuous improvement of existing
procedures is needed, together with the
application of new systems and the enhancement
of competencies in delivering the power of
