Registration of Aircraft Maintenance License Holder
BEM has conducted a study on the qualification of CAAM ( formerly known as Department of Civil Aviation , Malaysia ( DCAM )) Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence ( AML ) categories as equivalency for registration with Board of Engineers Malaysia . In accordance with the Registration of Engineers Act 1967 ( Amendment 2015 ), BEM has set the following requirements for registration of the relevant categories with BEM .
CATEGORY OF APPLICATION - GRADUATE ENGINEER
Holders of the following license are eligible to apply for registration as Graduate Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia :
• Valid CAAM / DCAM Part 66 Category C holder ( including at least one type rating )
CATEGORY OF APPLICATION - ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST
Holders of the following license are eligible to apply for registration as Engineering Technologist with the Board of Engineers Malaysia :
• Valid CAAM / DCAM Category B1 / B2 holder ( including at least one type rating )
CATEGORY OF APPLICATION - INSPECTOR OF WORKS ( TECHNICIAN )
Holders of the following license are eligible to apply for registration as Inspector of Works ( Technician ) with the Board of Engineers Malaysia :
• Valid CAAM / DCAM Category B1 / B2 holder ( without any type rating )

REGISTRATION

The amended Registration of Engineers Act ( Revised 2015 ) ( REA ) which came into force on July 31 , 2015 requires all Inspector of Works ( IOW ) to be registered with BEM .
Under section 7 ( 1B )( ab ) of the REA , an IOW who is registered with the Board may , subject to section 8 , take up employment which requires him to assist the Professional Engineer in the supervision of engineering works .
The registration of IOW will be under the three major engineering disciplines i . e . Civil , Electrical and Mechanical or any other disciplines deemed appropriate .
All existing IOWs who are currently under employment of any Engineering Consultancy Practice ( ECP ) are entitled to be registered with the Board by completing the BEM Declaration Form detailing their supervision experience and responsibilities duly endorsed by a Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate from the ECP that they are employed .
With effect from August 31 2018 , only IOWs with academic qualifications approved by the Board will be eligible for registration .
