Overview of LF Cell (taken during cell buildup)
The Bukit Tagar Sanitary Landfill has
many outstanding features. Among
this is a ‘Zero Discharge’ policy,
where treated effluents are not
discharged into open water courses
but used to irrigate a 120-acre field.
K
uala Lumpur and Selangor generate the
highest volume of domestic waste in the
country, with a combined daily volume of
approximately 5,000 tonnes. To manage the
situation, the Bukit Tagar Sanitary Landfill (BTSL)
was conceived as a regional sanitary landfill
to provide long-term solid waste management
solution for Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
BTSL is designed, developed and operated
by KUB-Berjaya Enviro Sdn Bhd, and started
operation in April 2005 under a concession by the
Government.
