INGENIEUR SEDA Malaysia Grid Connected Solar Photovoltaic (GCPV) Systems Installation and Maintenance Course This cour se was developed together with the Ministry of Human Resources, relevant renewable energ y training centres, TNB, and the PV industry through Malaysian Photovoltaic Industry Association (MPIA) to fill the gap and build up the local competencies in solar PV, focusing on installation and basic maintenance requirements of a PV system. This is to ensure that PV installations in Malaysia are constructed and maintained by trained and competent workers to achieve good quality and safety standards. The training is open to anyone with a minimum of a SPM certificate. The full course requires two months theory/classroom lectures including exams and practical, and two months industrial training with PV service providers in collaboration with MPIA. SEDA is planning to make it mandatory for PV service providers to have a minimum number of these certificate holders in their employ for them to register with SEDA to participate in the FiT scheme. Since 2014, Akademi Binaan Malaysia (ABM) Wilayah Utara and Selangor Human Resource Development Centre (SHRDC) are the only centres appointed to conduct this course. SEDA is looking for many more training centres to meet the big demand for this training. As of to-date, the number of persons trained and qualified are shown in Table 3.
