minimal training in
PV systems since
PV technology is
relatively new in the country. In collaboration with
ST, SEDA has developed a PV technology course
for holders of these ST certificates. The five-day
course is structured to expose the trainees to
solar PV technology. Specifically, the course covers
both the basic GCPV systems which include solar
PV modules, inverters and associated equipment;
and the basic installation and maintenance of the
GCPV systems. The training encompasses both
theoretical and practical sessions, ending with a
competency examination.
Only wiremen who have this additional
certificate are allowed to conduct testing and
commissioning of PV systems and sign off on
the relevant documents. This certificate is also
mandatory for chargemen employed in maintaining
solar PV systems requiring an operating license
from ST, this is normally required for plants with
installed capacity of greater than 72 kW.
The minimum requirement for enrolment
into this course is Chargeman AO certificate or
