From a systems viewpoint, electric railways
comprise two major sub-systems mainly:
(A) Traction Power System
(B) Signalling and Control System
(A) Traction Power System
The objective of traction power system is to
ensure uninterrupted reliable and safe operation
of electric traction vehicles/trains. Traction power
supply system can be subdivided into:
• Traction power transmission/distribution,
• Traction power feeding,
