SEAN, has for many years envisaged
having its own integrated regional power
network. Blessed with abundance of natural
resources, the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) is the key
infrastructure that will enable efficient utilisation
of indigenous resources for power generation
among the ASEAN countries. Mooted in 1997,
the APG however experienced almost a stagnant
growth due to multitude of reasons. National
impediments to promotion of power trade and
the electricity industry restructuring and evolution
into a single power market are among the barriers
hindering the pursuit of the APG [1]
