INFORMAL NEWS “Alif Ailaan” Launches App and Online Platform for Citizen Reporting Alif Ailaan, has launched a citizen reporting mobile app and online platform “Taleem Do!” at an event held in Islamabad. Alif Ailaan is an education campaign that has been working for the last five years to make sure that Pakistan’s leaders understand the urgency of the education crisis. According to the latest Pakistan Education Statistics report, there are 22.8 million children who are still out of schools in Pakistan. Moreover, the national average score in subjects like math’s and science is below 50% as per the National Assessment Test 2016 report. Court Orders Private Schools to stop Charging Fees during Summer Vacations Islamabad High Court (IHC) has barred all private schools in the capital and other federally administered areas from collecting fees from students for summer vacations. The court summoned the secretary Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) and the chairman Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) as well. The court ordered the schools to adjust the already collected fees for the months of June and July. A local citizen filed a petition at IHC against this private schools’ practice of collecting fees during vacations. The management and engineering students competed for a limited number of positions representing various academic disciplines including HR, Marketing, and Supply Chain, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics and more. With 13 universities and over 2500 students, Empower to Lead Azad Jammu and Kashmir Tops UN’s National Human Development Index The Pakistan National Human Development Index (HDI) report released by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has been released. The report, titled ‘Pakistan National Human Develop- ment Report: Unleashing the Potential of a Young Pakistan’, revealed that Azad Jammu and Kashmir and some areas from Punjab fare better than other provinces on the HDI – a composite index measur- ing average achievement in three basic dimensions. Among the provinces, Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir come under high medium human development, while Sindh and KPK fall under PIEAS Tops Pakistani Universities in QS Rankings 2019 The 15th edition of the world rankings evaluated 1000 universities from 85 countries, with the United States of America claiming top 4 positions. Stanford University, Harvard University and California Institute of Technology have also maintained 2nd, 3rd, and 4th spots respectively. Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIAES) have overtaken National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) as the top-ranked Pakistani university in the QS World University Rankings 2019.
