For many years he sailed the seas

And fought the storms and gales

Becalmed in the softest breeze

Or rode with full blown sails

The coast of France and Portugal

Morocco and of Spain

Of Africa and Senegal

He visited them all

To foreign parts he’d set his sights

Sailed by navigation lights

And in the bars he would regale

His adventures and his mariners tales

Then one fine day he sold his boat

Settled in a port

Each day he walks down the shore

Along the Spanish main

But still within his heart

The wanderlust remains

He watches as the boats set sail

For new horizons they depart

With each yacht that sails away

A part of him is lost

In his sleep he’s back at sea

Captain of his boat

To push her on a following wind

Her sails set goosewinged

Across her bows the dolphins play

With the glow of the rising sun

Flying fish leap on the deck

As with the wind she runs

WANDERLUST
