Indie Game Edition #1 | Page 20

IGE: What is the plan after The hive, and what other games have you made?

Sauli: Currently we are working on 2D Digging game that has computer generated levels. If you

return to the same level, you have something new each time. You can build own tools and

city using the materials you find from the game.

We are also planning to release my earlier game Joutomaa on Steam.

IGE: How did you guys get started in gaming, what made you do this choice?

I have always been making games, for my friends using level editors. After seeing the

success of my Half-life 2 mods, I wanted to try the same on my own commercial games.

I love telling stories and making the game worlds “real” for people. I enjoy watching as I

create small story and world. Soon the community start asking questions about the creatures

living there or history of the place, speculating what had happened before.

The game worlds come real and alive for them, before those were just ideas in my head.

I like to have some mysteries in our games, so people can use imagination and talk with

each other on what is the story behind certain events.

IGE: Would you say the rise of the indie community is a good or bad thing, competition wise or does it fuel creativity in a new way?

Sauli: I think it’s a great thing we have so many developers these days. There are so many great

ideas, that have come to life. Steam is getting pretty crowded and Valve is finding new ways

of showing people, all the games they are interested about. Developers are fighting for

visibility all the time. I wish there was more ways to highlight all the great games that people

have not heard of.

IGE: How has the feedback been for The Hive?

Feedback has been great from the start. There have been very dedicated fans from the start,

providing us with valuable suggestions on how to make our game better. After releasing new

content, we always had plenty of testers providing feedback.

Even after Early Access we are still developing new features and updates for our game. It

warms my heart to see same people playing our game, that have purchased it two years ago.

IGE: Where can our readers check out your game?

Sauli: Most popular store is currently Steam, you can find our page here:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/325730/

Our game is also available on Humble Store, Indiegala, Greenman Gaming and Gamergate.

IGE: Any last HAILZ?

Sauli: If the readers have any other questions, they can send us message in Twitter!
