100 MAKING A DIFFERENCE
O
n February 17, 2018, The
Del celebrates its 130th
Anniversary with flair, fabulous
food and fascinating art,
featuring the nation’s top
Master Chefs and the work
of legendary celebrity
photographer John Russo.
VIP guests at the black-tie fete
can mingle with the stars, sip
champagne at an exclusive
reception in the Coronet
Room, and personally meet
the cadre of Master Chefs:
Olivier Dubreuil (Venetian
Palazzo Hotel, Las Vegas),
Xavier Salomon (Ritz Carlton,
Half Moon Bay), Steve
Benjamin (Waldorf Astoria,
Beverly Hills), Frederic Castan
(Hilton Anaheim) and The Del’s own Patrick
Ponsaty (1500 OCEAN). Photog John
Russo will also be present, surrounded
by a gallery of his finest work with profits
benefiting the charities highlighted in his
book 101 Making a Difference.
After the private reception, all gala guests
will enjoy a spectacular five-course feast
in the Crown Room, prepared
by the Master Chefs and The
Del’s executive chef Stefan
Peroutka. The evening’s dishes
have been inspired by the
vintage menus from The Del’s
chefs over the past 130 years.
Sepia toned lighting, Crown
chandeliers, a lively orchestra,
tuxedo-clad servers and
modern takes on dishes from
days past will transport guests
to another era, honoring this
living legend and 130 grand years. For
more information on the gala, please go to
hoteldel.com.
Russo’s latest book project, 100 Making a
Difference, features one hundred extraordinary
people who have
founded charities or
launched projects
that are truly making
a positive impact
around the globe.
Russo has shot
portraits of these
committed folks and
the book sheds light on the organizations they
champion—people and causes like George
Clooney on genocide in Sudan, Pakistani
activist Malala Yousafzai on girls’ educati on,
Greenpeace’s Rex Weyler on the environment,
Virginia Isais on Human Trafficking Survivors,
Jeff Bridges on Share Our Strength’s No Kid
Hungry Campaign and more. 100 Making
a Difference will be published in April 2018
and profits from John Russo’s gallery of
images at the Icon + Master’s Gala at Hotel
del Coronado on February 17, 2018 will go
directly to various charities featured in his book.
