MCCLELLAN ELEMENTARY JUSTIN LIBERATORE, PRINCIPAL
WELCOME TO MCCLELLAN ELEMENTARY!
O
n Monday, April 21, we held a Family Read Night to
coincide with our PTA Scholastic Book Fair in our
gym. We felt this would be a great opportunity to
open our doors to our newest family members for
the 2018-2019 school year, so we invited all incoming 1st and
2nd grade families from Jefferson Elementary School as well.
Parents were invited to shop the “Buy One, Get One Free” book
fair with their children from 6:00-8:00 PM. The theme for the
book fair was “Paws for Reading,” so we also had a supply drive
for our furry friends. We encouraged families to donate pet food,
supplies and blankets to two local organizations. One of these
groups, Paws Across Pittsburgh, even brought out three of their
adoptable puppies for the children to visit with and get to know!
Our PTA offered a free ice cream sundae bar for everyone, and
they provided McClellan water bottles and free book coupons to
all the students from JES who were in attendance.

QR code that linked to the video. As parents toured the building,
they could use a QR scanning app on their phone or tablet to
view the videos. But don’t worry, if you didn’t make it out, you
can still see the videos on the next page.
All of McClellan Elementary staff and students are looking
forward to this next chapter in our school, and cannot wait to
welcome our newest members to our family in the 2018-2019
school year. Here We Grow!
We also had a dozen teachers on hand to offer tours of the
building. As parents visited our “tour table” in the cafeteria,
Mr. Liberatore introduced himself as principal and welcomed
newcomers to our school. He then directed the families to a
teacher on hand to take a guided tour of the building. Although
we are still set up as a K-5 building, we have a number of
teachers that are staying in their classrooms. This gave the
parents a chance to see a typical kindergarten, first or second
grade room. Guests were also able to see what our library,
music, and art rooms look like. The highlight of the tours was
the 3D printed paw prints outside of each classroom. Since not
all of our staff could be in attendance, each one recorded a little
