PLEASANT HILLS MIDDLE SCHOOL 6TH GRADE STUDENTS RECOGNIZED
FOR DARE PROGRAM

leasant Hills Middle School held its DARE (Drug
Abuse Resistance Education) recognition
program for sixth-graders in January 2018. PHMS
School Resource Officer Ron Porupsky of the
Pleasant Hills Police Department recently completed the
10-week program that provides students with strategies
to help them stay away from drugs and alcohol by
preparing them to act decisively and responsibly in
difficult situations. As part of their final project, students
created their own public service announcements to
show what they have learned in their DARE classes.
The top-ten DARE PSAs were shown at the program,
and the students were recognized for their efforts with
special DARE t-shirts. The PSAs are available to view

At the close of the program, Officer Porupsky was
awarded the Regional Exceptional Service Award from
the National Association of School Resource Officers.
Officer Porupsky is one of only 10 officers to receive
national recognition.
