ANNUAL FUNDRAISER
FALL for Your Library 2017
Saturday, Sept. 16, 6 to 10 p.m.
WACL’s annual fundraising event “Fall for
Your Library” is the community’s premiere
food & wine tasting event and attracts over
300 adults from the library’s service area
and beyond. Guests enjoy food and wine
pairings, music, games and auctions. As the
library’s largest fundraiser, it raises nearly
$35,000 annually to help grow programs
and services for the community.
Pre-sale discount and multi-pack tickets
are offered until September 1. A portion of
ticket price is tax-deductible as a donation
(ask for details). Fall for Your Library 2017
takes place at its new venue: North Fayette
Community Center, 580 Donaldson Road,
Oakdale (15071).

KICKS OFF SUMMER THE RIGHT WAY
School’s out, but summer learning is underway at the Western Allegheny
Community Library, which held a June 2 kickoff that gave patrons a taste of the
summer activities. The event featured larger-than-life puppets wandering around the
library, an opportunity to create artistic robots with the Pittsburgh Children’s Museum,
a special performance of the storybook “Giraffes Can’t Dance” by Gateway to the Arts
artist JoAnna Abel, Nevo the Police Dog, Hank the Bee Guy and a multitude of crafts.
The party also served as the public unveiling of the library’s new backyard, which was
a major upgrade that gives the library added space for reading, relaxation, meditation
and mingling.

RENOVATION PROJECT

Library and North Fayette Township have
recently been awarded a $50,000 Keystone
grant to renovate the library. Before moving
into the current building in 2013, the library
board undertook an extensive renovation to
prepare the space for the library, knowing
that some projects would remain undone
