Rec and Park General
Manager Phil Ginsburg
described the rebuild as the
“prettiest in the system,”
and Kat Anderson, who
serves on the Rec and Park
Commission, called it “the
gem in the crown of Rec
and Park.”
Mayor Ed Lee and other
elected and community
leaders toured the almost-
completed facility June 5
and watched as kids from
the Silver Tree summer
camp in Glen Canyon
Park tried out the new
climbing wall and gave it
an enthusiastic thumbs-up.
The revamped rec center
is expected to be fully
operational in mid-July.
The new gymnasium
promises a better
bounce for basketballs.
