maintained, with the help of
volunteers.
This project, aimed at making the
transforming neighborhood more
welcoming for residents and visitors,
is the latest initiative to enhance the
Ocean Avenue corridor. Others that
Public Works has been involved in
include:
• A streetscape improvement
project in 2016 that brought
modern raised planters with a
drought tolerant and colorful
plant palette, more street trees
and street furnishings and
concrete pavers to activate
the large existing bulb-outs at
T-Intersections along Ocean
Avenue.
• Last year’s completion of Unity
Plaza, a wonderful new gathering
space for the surrounding
neighborhood and City College
community.
• A new garden at the Ingleside
Library, completed in 2015,
which serves as an interactive
outdoor space for library patrons
to play and learn.
