I am exceptionally proud of all that DCS has accomplished in our first year. In celebration of our partners, community members, and staff who have made our work possible, the next few pages include an overview of our first year’s top achievements.

Our efforts will continue at the same breakneck pace in our second year. We have the opportunity to extend our work further. We seek to solidify the role of community supervision in the criminal justice arena, and to become even stronger partners in our nation’s fight against recidivism.
This requires a greater pursuit of next practices. In our second year, we will not be afraid to try new ways to approach our business. We will challenge the status quo and seek to advance not just what we know, but what we believe will work better.
At the heart of everything we do are our Community Supervision Officers, who are on the front lines everyday, living and breathing the DCS values. The actions of these individuals are the driving force behind every change that DCS initiates. In this issue of In the Community, we focus on the core values and training that mold our officers and shape the practices of our community supervision.
