the highest quality, offering 12-16 fruit/ vegetable options at the schools each day. We look forward to participating in the DoD program again this upcoming school year. She directs 38 staff members, manages the food service budget, and excels in the HACCP implementation training program that ensures food safety for all involved. To date, our food service department has won over 400 Diamond Awards and 3 City of Pittsburgh Awards from the Allegheny County Health Department and Food Advisory Board for food safety and HACCP implementation. Wood serves on the District’s Leadership Team and works with students, parents, and school nurses to implement special needs menus such as gluten free, diabetic options, and new meatless meals and vegetarian options to satisfy the palates of our diverse population. She has over 22 years of management experience both in the private sector and school nutritional services. Wood is equipped with a graduate degree from Duquesne University, a Master’s Degree in Leadership and Global Business Ethics and a Bachelor of Science in Business and IT from California University of PA. She is also a Registered Dietetic Technician (DTR) which allows her to work closely with our families regarding special needs to complete nutritional analysis of the menu. She has earned several credentials from the AFPA - American Fitness Professionals and Associates as a “Certified Sports Nutritional Consultant,” “Certified Sport Conditioning Specialist,” and “Certified Weight Management Specialist.” As a life-long learner, Wood holds her National Accreditation as a School Nutritional Specialist from the School Nutrition Association. Memberships include: American Dietetic Association, PA Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics, Pittsburgh Regional Food Service Directors Associations (PRFSD), and School Nutrition Association (SNA). She serves on the Advisory Board of Directors for CCAC Dietetics program, the Board for Pittsburgh Regional Food Service Director and has been nominated to serve on the Allegheny County Health Department Advisory Board by her peers to represent Allegheny County public schools.
