With taking the helm at the South Fayette Township School District this past January , I am fortunate to be able to build upon the solid foundation from my predecessors — Dr . Linda Hippert and Dr . Bille Rondinelli . These two extraordinary school leaders led the South Fayette Township School District through unprecedented growth to not only build facilities to accommodate the students but also to build innovative programming to make the district an exemplar for not only the region but also for the country as well . firm in Pittsburgh . Additionally , South Fayette Township School District was also one of the earliest districts to be selected to be in the League of Innovative Schools , a national recognition through Digital Promise . The District has become a model for other programs with the articulation of computational thinking and computer science . The South Fayette Township Middle School was also designated and redesignated as a “ Schools to Watch ” program honoring the best middle schools in the state .

SOUTH FAYETTE TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS
Under Dr . Hippert ’ s leadership , a brand new high school was built and opened for the 2002-2003 school year . Additionally the South Fayette Township Elementary School and the South Fayette Township Middle School were named as Blue Ribbon Schools . Dr . Hippert also helped to create long-standing traditions such as the annual high school musical and the All- Clad Program , where students solve real-world problems with a successful business partner .
Under Dr . Rondinelli ’ s leadership , the District continued to succeed in academics , the arts , and athletics . She oversaw the building of the South Fayette Township Intermediate School , and this past year , she led major alterations and additions to South Fayette Township High School , including a brand new Fab Lab ( fabrication / manufacturing laboratory ). During her tenure , Dr . Rondinelli introduced a one-to-one initiative for grades 1-12 , where students receive their own devices to use to collaborate and to personalize their learning . She also helped to introduce human-centered design across all grade levels with a partnership with the Luma Institute , an international design

The arts also thrived under Dr . Rondinelli ’ s leadership . The arts have been integrated throughout the curriculum with a partnership with the Arts Education Collaborative , and the band , chorus , and a burgeoning orchestra program are thriving with large enrollments and student recognition through the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association ( PMEA ). As part of a continued tradition , the South Fayette Drama Program will present “ The Wizard of Oz ” ( Young Performers Edition ) at the middle school ( March 1-3 , 2018 ) and “ Hello , Dolly !” at the high school ( March 22-25 , 2018 ).
During Dr . Rondinelli ’ s tenure , the South Fayette Township School District Athletic Program produced many WPIAL and state championships . This includes back-to-back WPIAL and PIAA football titles ( 2013 , 2014 ), and recent WPIAL titles for girls basketball ( 2016 ) and girls cross country ( 2017 ).
Moving forward , I will build upon these accomplishments to create new pathways for students to explore their passions and interests and to expose them to careers through relevant real-world experiences . I am proud to be a Lion and look forward to continuing and enhancing the “ tradition , pride , and excellence ” that is the South Fayette Township School District .
