“I am surrounded by so many great educators here at Shaler
Area, that I am honored to be recognized as a finalist in the
entire state,” Mason says.
Mason was nominated for the award and completed an
extensive application to advance to the semifinalist round in
February. All 12 finalists must prepare and submit for review
a video of a lesson. The scores from the video and application
packets will be combined to form a composite score. The
Pennsylvania Department of Education will announce the
2018 Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year during a special awards
ceremony in December.
