Leaf - Yard Waste Collection

October , November , December Leaf – Yard Waste Collection : During Leaf Collection for October through December there is no need to schedule as the entire community will be serviced for Leaf and Yard Waste Collection on the dates below :

• Yard waste includes : leaves , garden residue , shrubbery with no dirt attached , limbs , twigs , brush and tree trimmings , and similar items , but does not include grass clippings or mulch .

• Yard waste must be placed in a bio-degradable paper bag . Tree trimmings not to exceed 3 inches in diameter , brush , limbs , twigs and shrubbery must be bundled in lengths not to exceed 4 feet .

Leaf bags are 40 cents and available at the Township Office , Monday through Friday , 8:00 a . m . to 4:30 p . m .

Three Rivers Heritage Trail

On July 11th the Shaler Township Board of Commissioners voted to accept SMART funds from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for assistance with preliminary engineering and final design of a trail connection for Shaler ’ s portion of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail that runs along the Allegheny River . Shaler Township is working with the state to help secure a safe passage through railroad property . The Commissioners are committed to working with the various entities to complete the trail which will be beneficial to the residents of Shaler and all who wish to use the trail .

Walk Bike Shaler

Thanks to all who dropped by the Walk Bike Shaler table at this year ’ s Community Day . It was a lovely day to accept registrations , distribute 4-foot passing awareness signs , and raffle off gift baskets of cycling goodies . We were honored to meet so many people excited to expand pedestrian and cycling infrastructure in our township and beyond .

Republic Services E-Waste and Household Hazardous Waste pick-up Service Your Household Hazardous Waste ( HHW ) and E-Waste can now be safety collected from each home by making a call to : 1-800-464-2120 .

Electronic Waste includes : TV ’ s , computers , monitors , VCR and DVD players , printers , fax machines , cable boxes , gaming equipment and similar electronic waste .

Cardboard Recycling : If you have oversized cardboard that does not fit into your recycling cart , the cardboard may be placed in the recycling dumpster at the Shaler Township Municipal Building parking lot . Please break the cardboard down to lay flat when placing in the Recycling Dumpster .
