Tanner’s parents have always encouraged
him to earn the rank of Eagle Scout, but
shortly after joining Boy Scouts it was his
personal goal—not just something his parents
wanted. “I could see what great things an
Eagle Scout project would give to both me
and my community,” he explains. “Now that
I’ve completed my journey to Eagle Scout, I
can see that I’ve gained invaluable skills, work
ethic and motivation to help my community.”
Tanner plans to attend a four-year college
and earn a degree in a STEM-related
field. “I’ve always loved math, science and
technology, so computer engineering is what
I’m leaning towards,” he says. “My dream
job would be to help create new technology
that can somehow help those in need. I don’t
plan to go into the military, but if I had the
choice of working for a private company
or in the military as a computer engineer/
cybersecurity specialist, I would serve my
country in that way in an instant.” n
