TO HONOR ROONEYS
SEWICKLEY LIGHT UP
NIGHT
This year’s Sewickley Light Up Night
will take place on Friday, Dec. 2, at St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church from 4 to 7 p.m. A meal of
soup, sandwich, dessert and a beverage will
be available, costing $10 for adults and $4 for
children 12 and under. A Saint Nicholas Shop
for young children will also be available.

Edwardian Social took place on Sunday, Oct.
2, in the pavilion at Avonworth Community
Park on Camp Horne Road. The event was

Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School
is proud to announce an initiative honoring
Ambassador Dan Rooney (Class of 1950) and
Patricia Rooney in recognition of their hard
work and generosity. The upgraded athletic
practice area will be named the “Ambassador
Dan Rooney Athletic Complex” and the school
library will be named the “Patricia Rooney
Library.”
Phase One of the initiative will enhance
library services by expanding technology,
and will also enable the student government
to participate in leadership development
programs. Phase One will also upgrade the
athletic practice fields, including regrading,
adding irrigation, drainage and new sod, which
will provide improved
surfaces for sports teams
and the marching band.
“Mr. and Mrs. Rooney
have touched and
influenced so many lives
in the areas of education,
civic leadership and
athletics that it is only
appropriate we try to honor them with these
recognitions,” says Kevin Colbert (Board
Member and Class of 1975). Construction
was set to start Nov. 1 with a dedication soon
thereafter.
BRUNEAUX RESTAURANT
OPENS ON BEAVER
STREET
Bruneaux Restaurant, a new fine-dining
establishment designed by award-winning
architectural firm Studio St.Germain, opened
Sept. 30 on the site of the former Sewickley
Café on Beaver Street. Bruneaux features an
American menu with strong French influences.
The restaurant is the third commercial
project in Sewickley for the boutique firm
Studio St.Germain, which specializes in
high-performance/low-energy design and
building science. It follows the much-acclaimed
renovations of business development
organization Explore Sewickley and retailer
J.McLaughlin.
Building owner Robin Fernandez asked
Studio St.Germain to create an efficient,
modern design that incorporates design themes
related to the restaurant concept. Principal
architect Nathan St.Germain states, “With
the renovation of Bruneaux, our goal was
to transform the building with a design that
reflected the owner’s vision while creating a
comfortable, beautiful environment for diners.
We wanted to bring new life to the space while
incorporating energy efficiency into the design.
With the completion of our third project in
Sewickley, we’re delighted to be contributing
to the ongoing revitalization of our own
community.”
Bruneaux is open Tuesday through Saturday
from noon to 2 p.m. for lunch, 5 to 10 p.m. for
dinner, and serves a late menu from 10 to 11
p.m. On Sundays, brunch is offered from noon
to 3 p.m. Bruneaux is closed on Mondays.
VILLAGE THEATER
COMPANY SELECTS
PROGRAMMER,
MARKETING FIRM AND
CFO
A veteran programmer who has imprinted
the American independent and international
film scene will develop cinematic programming
for Village Theater Company at The Tull Family
Theater in Sewickley, opening in early 2017.
Jeffrey Jacobs will select first-run
independent, classic and foreign films for
patrons of the nonprofit theater. Jacobs is
known nationally for his unparalleled ability
to tailor film selections to specific markets and
