ROSS/WEST VIEW EMS IN THE NEWS
Child Passenger safety
Did you know that more than 90% of infant and child restraints
are improperly installed? Ross/West View EMSA conducts
hundreds of Child Passenger Safety Inspections each and every
year. To make an appointment to have your infant/child seat
inspected and to learn how to properly install it, call Ross/West
View EMSA’s Child Passenger Safety Hotline at 412.931.8200
Extension 444. If you prefer e-mail, you can e-mail the team at
[email protected]. The program is free of charge and serves only
to protect children traveling on our nation’s highways.
Bleeding Control
On February 27th of this year, Ross/West View EMSA had 14 EMTS
and Paramedics participate in the first ever Bleeding Control
Symposium. The focus of this high impact, one day event was
changes in medical care specific to hemorrhage control. Ross/
West View EMSA is one of the most cutting edge services in
our region for training and equipment carried specific to mass
bleeding events. It is an unfortunate reality that all too often, bad
things happen. It is our mission to be as prepared as we properly
can be.
Along those same lines, Ross/West View EMSA Staff members
have been working with various school districts and public
venues to provide both equipment and training to Teachers,
nurses, security guards and various other staff members. The
focus is rapid bleeding control while waiting for EMS and Police
resources to arrive.
Cooperatively with Ross and other local police agencies, Ross/
West View EMSA has also provided equipment and training for
each patrol officer and patrol car so that a large volume of trained
personnel and equipment is readily available at every incident.
Training
Ross/West View EMSA continues to be a leading agency in
Allegheny County and surrounding areas for training and
preparation in various disciplines. So far in 2017 we have logged
thousands of hours of training ranging from online topics all the
way through vary aggressive hands on scenarios. Ross/West View
EMSA takes training and preparation very seriously. Our staff is
committed to being the best that they can be through training
and preparation.

THE ROSS TOWNSHIP
VOLUNTEER FIREMEN
RECRUITMENT &
RETENTION COMMITTEE &
DISCOUNT CLUB
Ross Township has been blessed
with a 100% volunteer fire service
for many years. The desire of this
committee, business owners and
every tax payer is to ensure that
this purely volunteer group remains
intact, well trained and ready to go.
Ross Township has 8 fire companies with approximately
300 volunteers consisting of fire fighters, administrative help,
fire police and junior members. Every year regulations passed
down from the state make the cost and time requirements
for training more demanding on new and veteran members.
Each new member costs the companies upwards of $3,000
which is covered by various forms of income consisting of Ross
Township General Fund budget contributions, federal and state
grants and fund raising efforts of the fire companies.
Help us thank them for the commitment and a job well
done by becoming a member of the Ross Township Volunteer
Firemen Discount Club. Any discount of any amount is deeply
appreciated. Any volunteer requesting a discount at your
establishment must present photo ID to receive the discount.
The Discount Club listing of participants will be published in
our magazine quarterly and posted at each fire hall. Following
