Members are certified armorers for the various weapon systems authorized for use by the sworn members including Glock, Smith and Wesson, Sig Sauer, Mossberg, and the AR15 rifle. The FTU also has firearm safety information for our youth that can be distributed on request. A number of current projects are in the works for the FTU including an ongoing standardization of duty weapons for officers, development of several new curricula, and facility and equipment upgrades. While it is the hope of the Ross Police Department that no force ever need be used to uphold the law and ensure the safety of the citizens of Ross Township, the FTU works to ensure that when it is required, it is administered within the boundaries of the law, appropriately, and proficiently.
