A MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD PRESIDENT:
By Working Together, Ross Township Will Continue to
Move in a Positive Direction!
O
n January 2, 2018, Ross Township held its swearing
in ceremony for newly elected and re-elected public
officials. As you can see in the picture, I was blessed
to have my daughters Addison (10) and Madeleine
(9) join me as I was sworn in for my second four-year term as the
Commissioner of Ward 2 and as the new President of the Ross
Township Board of Commissioners. It is truly and honor and a
privilege to serve you, the residents of Ross Township, in this
capacity. Thank you to my wife, Sabrina Korbel, for taking this
wonderful photo and for her on-going support! Also, thank you
to my fellow Commissioners for their confidence in my ability
to lead the Board and the Township for the next two years.
You have my commitment that I will do all that I can to ensure
that the Board of Commissioners works together to move the
Township forward and to continue to make it a better place to
live, work, play and raise a family!
The first quarter of 2018 has proven to be a busy time for the
Township and the Board of Commissioners. Here are some
highlights and items of note:
• The Board welcomed two new members – Commissioner
Joe Laslavic (Ward 4) and Commissioner Jason Pirring
(Ward 6). Commissioners Laslavic and Pirring have hit the
ground running, advocating for better communication
between the Township and its residents. Their fresh
perspective has already made a positive impact on our
community.
• The Township once again passed a balanced budget that
maintained current limits on property taxes (2.7 mils) and
all other Township taxes. The Township administration
and the Board of Commissioners work incredibly hard to
ensure that we provide effective and efficient services in
the most cost-effective manner for our residents.
• The Township has rolled out a new website that is
much more user friendly and will improve openness,
transparency and communication. I encourage you to visit
the Township website at www.ross.pa.us where you can
sign up to stay informed about the various opportunities,
issues and activities within the Township.
• The Township continues to aggressively invest in our
infrastructure including our parks, roads and sewers. This
year, the Board of Commissioners budgeted $1.5 million
for road paving work. Please check the Township website
or connect with your Commissioner directly to see if your
street is on the list of those to be paved this year.
• The Township is continuing the Military Banner Program
that started last year. Currently, banners are displayed
on Babcock Boulevard between Three Degree Road
and Rochester Road. Applications are now available on
the Township website if you wish to participate in this
program. In addition, Commissioner Pat Mullin (Ward 7),
chair of the Township’s Veteran’s Committee asks that any
veteran residing in the Township contact him so that they
can be included in all future veteran-related Township
events. His telephone number is 412.979.6269 or you can
contact him by email at [email protected].
• The Board of Commissioners recently voted to move Ross
Township Community Day to Saturday, September 22,
2018. The Township will continue to celebrate the Fourth
of July with a parade in Perrysville on Sunday July 1, 2018
and with fireworks later that evening. Please mark your
calendar with these important dates; more details will
follow about both events in the near future.
• The Board of Commissioners approved a slightly different
meeting schedule for 2018-2019. The Board will continue
to meet on the first and third Mondays of each month.
However, the meeting on the first Monday will begin at
6:30 p.m. and will be for the Board’s committees to report
on the progress of their work, their future goals and related
issues. The Board will hold its monthly voting meeting on
the third Monday beginning at 7:30 p.m. All meetings will
take place in the Commissioner’s meeting room at the
Township Building.
If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please
do not hesitate to contact me or any other Ross Township
Commissioner. The Commissioners are here to serve you, the
residents of Ross Township. The Township administration and
the Commissioners cannot do it alone. We count on you to help
us better understand the issues facing Ross Township and to
make Ross Township a great place to live, work, play and raise a
family!!!
