VOLUNTEER AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER The Ross Parks and Recreation Department is always looking for volunteers to help with special events. NORTHLAND PUBLIC LIBRARY KIOSK Did you know you can borrow items from Northland Public Library right at Ross Township’s Community Center? The Kiosks, named NOMAD (which stands for Northland Offsite Modern Alternative Dispenser) contains both children’s and adult books, CDs, and DVDs that can be checked out using any library card issued by Allegheny County. Patrons are also able to return Library items to the book drop conveniently located just outside the main entrance to the Ross Community Center. Stop by Northland Public Library and connect with your community! 7TH-12TH GRADE BASKETBALL LEAGUE Boys and Girls Welcome! This is an 8-game program, followed by a single-elimination tournament. Practices and games are scheduled for Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This is a great, very affordable program for our kids! At the end of the year, we a have a pizza party and parents vs. kids game, and give first place team trophies to coaches and team members. We offer open enrollment for your convenience. Dragons (4-6) - Thurs. - 5:00-5:45pm Our Dragons program utilizes creative learning strategies to appeal to our younger students’ unique learning style. The classes are geared towards focusing their energies and attention in a positive way. They learn basic martial arts skills, self-control, focus, balance and coordination. Upon graduation, they are preparing to join our Youth program. $55/month for Ross-Resident $65/month for Non-Ross-Residents Youth (7-13) - Tues. & Thur. - 6:00-6:45pm Our Youth program is designed to bring the traditional martial art of Tang Soo Do to our children. Classes focus on martial arts techniques, self-defense, and positive mental & physical development. This class teaches the techniques and philosophies of a traditional martial art utilizing modern teaching methods. $75/month for Ross-Residents $85/month for Non-Ross Residents Teen & Adult (13+) - Tues. & Thurs. - 7:00-8:00pm For our older students we offer our highest level of instruction. IN addition to learning the techniques of Tang Soo Do, students will delve deeper into their understanding of self-development and self-defense.
