Photography | Olga Telentso Did you know anyone who passed away or was part of the revolt? There was someone from my village who was killed by a sniper. The government started to shoot random people and used snipers because there were too many protestors. So they started to kill people in hopes they would stop us from protesting, but we’d come so far, we weren’t going to turn around. Did people use the icons you designed during the protests? Yes! They put them on billboards and posted them on some of the walls in the cities, and used them over the Internet. I made them to inspire people to help one another and stand up as one country. I also made them so people would be careful and take care of each other in this time. I didn’t want to see any more Ukrainians hurt, but we had to stand up for our rights. I just wanted to inspire them. Do you think design can change the world? It can change people. That’s how you change the world. With all this going on, do you have hope things will change for the better in the future? At this [time], it’s very hard on the people of Ukraine. But we are strong people. We’ve come this far and we aren’t going to stop. 40  JANUARY 2015 | IN PRODUCTION ISSUE 01 | IN PRODUCTION 41
