KIDS STORY TIMES A session of storytimes will begin the week of Feb . 26 and will run for six weeks , ending the week of April 9 . No storytimes will be held during Spring Break week of March 26 .

WATERCOLORS FOR BEGINNERS
Have you always wished you could paint , but didn ’ t think you had the ability ? With proper instruction , you ’ ll be surprised ! An introductory watercolor painting class will be offered at the library on Wednesdays , Feb . 28 through April 4 , from 1:30 to 3:30 p . m . All the materials you will need to get started – high quality paints , brushes and paper – will be provided . Space is limited to 12 students , and the fee for the class is $ 60 .
SECOND SATURDAY WORKSHOPS FOR WOMEN
Second Saturday deals with the legal , financial , family and personal issues of divorce in a logical yet compassionate way . This non-profit workshop is
designed to help women take the next step , no matter where they are in the process of untying the knot . Join us on Saturday , March 10 , at 9 a . m ..
CHESS TOURNAMENT Kids are invited to the Northern Tier Library ’ s 45th annual Chess Tournament on Saturday , March 10 , at 9:30 a . m . Competition will be held on two levels : the Junior Division for grades K through 4 ; and the Senior Division for grades 5 through 8 . The winners in each division will go on to represent the library in the Allegheny County Library tournament . Registration is required .
THREE COURSE FRENCH DINNER
Join Chef Carol on Tuesday , March 13 , at 6 p . m . for a three course French dinner . The menu will include : Salad with Vinaigrette and Tuiles Quick Cassoulet Fruity Clafouti The fee for each class is $ 40 and seating is limited .
NATURE-OLOGY : OCEANS
Almost ¾ of the earth is covered with water , and yet we have so much to learn about the strange creatures that live there ! Some blow up to twice their size to scare off predators ; others have no bones , no muscles and no brain . And at least one has eight arms and nine brains ! Kids and adults are invited to learn more on Tuesday , March 13 , at 5:30 p . m .
THE BEAUTIFUL MONARCH BUTTERFLY
The monarch butterfly is one of North America ’ s most easily recognized species , with its wing colors of orange , black , and white . It is also a species in peril , due to climate changes , loss of habitat and pesticides . Join Kimberly Vensel , a photographer who also raises monarch butterflies , on Tuesday , March 20 , at 6:30 p . m ., for an educational program . Learn about the monarch ’ s life cycle ,
amazing migration , displayed through Kimberly ’ s photographs . She will also discuss what we can all do to help , including the best native plants to grow in our own gardens . There is no charge for this program , but advance registration is required .
LIBRARY EGG HUNT Come to the library for our annual Library Egg Hunt on Saturday , March 24 , at 11 a . m . We ’ ll have crafts and snacks to celebrate this search-and-find activity . This program is for kids of all ages . Registration is required .
