Since her debut in Sensation Comics in 1942 to this summer’s blockbuster film, Wonder Woman has been recognized as the foremost female superhero. Join us on Thursday, Aug. 17, at 7 p.m. for a presentation of her history, the background story of her creation, and her impact on both comics and the world. This program will be presented by Wayne Wise, a comic book writer, artist and scholar. Registration is required for this program. Due to program content, attendees must be 14 years of age or older. Soapmaking Demonstration Join Lori Chandler, owner of Ashgrove Soap and Sundries, on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 6:30 p.m. to learn the basics of making soap. She will demonstrate cold process soapmaking, which is the act of mixing fixed oils with an alkali to create soap. Lori is a certified Soapmaker and the first HSCG- certified cold process teacher in Pennsylvania. There is no charge for this program but registration is required. Second Saturday Workshops for Women Second Saturday deals with the legal, financial, family and personal issues of divorce in a logical yet compassionate way. This non-profit workshop is designed to help women take the next step, no matter where they are in the process. Meetings are from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the following Saturdays: Sept. 9, Oct. 14 and Nov. 11. Registration is required. Back to School Maker Party! All summer long, the library’s Makerspace has been at the Richland Center. With school starting, the Makerspace will be returning to the Pine Center, which is located in the PRHS. Terrarium Design and Construction Join the Allegheny County Park Rangers on Thursday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m. to learn about different methods of terrarium design and construction.
