Athletics  Four members of the Phoenixville Area High School Field Hockey team have been named to the Keith Waldman – Optimal Performance Associates/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) High School National Academic Squad. Sarah Baker ‘18, Sophia Bierly ‘18, Erica Sposato ‘17 and Lindsay White ‘18 were cited for their excellence in the classroom from the NFCHA.  Lindsay White achieved the Scholar of Distinction honor. Pictured here are the team members who represented PAHS at the PIAA State Tournament, along with their coaches. Just some of the awards earned by this group—Coach Dan Weinstein was named the Pottstown Mercury’s Swim Coach of the Year; 200 Medley Relay tea m (Kathryn Bland, Maddie Cooke, Emily Fabius and Katya Hayward) took 11th at the state meet; Maddie Cooke earned 7th and 8th place medals in the 100 Breast and 50 Free respectively; and Caroline Turner placed 5th in the state diving meet. All five of these girls were also named to All-Conference and All-Area Teams. Congratulations to all on a season to remember! Of the 90 pitches thrown, 61 were strikes, and he struck out nine batters. Ever humble, Cushing praised the offense for building a nice lead early in the game to take the pressure off him, and let him just go about his business. 28 Phoenixville Area
