IN Phoenixville Area Fall 2017 - Page 32

The Class of 2017! In a whirlwind of activities over the final weeks, the Class of 2017 graduated on a gorgeous June evening. This class was outstanding in multiple areas—from the classroom to the playing fields to the art studios and concert halls, they performed brilliantly, and we know the BEST is yet to come! One of our favorite new traditions is the Senior Salute—prior to graduation, our seniors had the chance to walk through the halls of their elementary schools one last time. Dressed in their caps and gowns, and with Pomp and Circumstance playing over the loud speakers, they were greeted by cheers, high fives, and big hugs from their former teachers. Baccalaureate is a very special evening, with speakers selected by the seniors. All were outstanding, but one deserves special note. Marcos Pu Lux came to the United States a mere four years ago, speaking no English, and leaving his family behind in Guatemala. He shared an inspirational story about his struggles, growth and transformation over those four years, and finished to a standing ovation from his classmates. Marcos will be attending college this fall at Delaware County Community College. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
