Each student has their own Honors ranking that reflects their achievements in performance, tech, and production staff categories. “Additionally, every one of my students listed above received one of the two academic achievement awards offered by the International Thespian Society,” said teacher Mrs. Lauren Scheirer, who serves as Theatre Company sponsor. “I am very proud to have this many Thespian Honor students here at Norwin, and will continue to support, value and recognize their achievements!” THREE CHEERS FOR NORWIN MIDDLE SCHOOL’S PRODUCTION OF Hundreds of community members experienced the Norwin Middle School Theatre Company’s recent performance of Annie JR., a musical which was performed February 15 through 17, 2018, at Norwin Middle School. The Middle School Theatre Company’s seventh and eighth graders had worked hard since November on this, their second-annual show. Annie JR is based on the popular comic strip and adapted from the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, Annie JR. It features everyone’s favorite little redhead, little orphan Annie (played by 8th grader, Ciara Giran). With equal measures of spunk and positivity, Annie charms everyone’s hearts despite 46 NORWIN a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan (played by 7th grader, Anna Oestreich). Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan’s scheming, finding a new home and family with billionaire Oliver Warbucks (played by 8th grader, Traye Geissler), his personal secretary, Grace Farrell (played by 8th grader, Liz Mahoney), and a lovable mutt named Sandy. Tobitha Sasso served as Director, and Ryan DeMatteo served as Assistant Director.
